A major oil producer in Northern Alberta was experiencing asphaltene/wax precipitation throughout their whole production system - including the well tubulars, flowlines and separator - resulting in loss of production and reduced flow from a flowing well. Flowline plugging and restricted tubulars down hole restricted the well to just 50-60bbls/day.
VerdeChem Technologies developed and tested an economical, holistic, cost effective stimulation solvent containing both aromatic and aliphatic solvent with an asphaltene dispersant and surfactant (WSD205) for better mutual water wetting.
The initial well data indicated the well should be producing 200-300bbl/day but was only making between 60-70 bbls/day with continued flowline plugging.
The program design called for an initial 1500 liter batch down the annulus and 500 liters down the tubing followed with a continuous injection of 10 liters/per day down the annulus and 5-10 liters/per day down the flowline at the well head.
After two consecutive hot oil jobs to clear the flowline and after two weeks of continuous injection of WSD205, the well is now steadily producing 315+ bbls/day.
